In the past decade, photography became a more democratic creative practice for several reasons, mostly due to the mass production of consumer cameras, the accessibility to, fast, mobile, high-quality cameras, the rapid progress of camera technology, and the overwhelming consumption of images.The workshop is a general introduction to practice and theories of photography for beginners, students, and amateurs. It provides its participants with a space to develop their understanding of the medium and discover new ways to harness the camera as a tool to serve each participant's purpose.

The Exhibition is the last and final event of MASS Alexandria's Independent Studio and Study Programme 2018/19 which was made possible by the founder of MASS Wael Shawky and member of the advisory board Mai Eldib, in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Alexandria, and powered by Onassis Culture.
